2017 Chinese University Program under Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) in Jiangnan University

Jiangnan University (JNU) owns independent recruitment right which is entrusted by Ministry of Education to recruit Chinese Government Scholarship students.

ⅠIntroduction to Jiangnan University

Jiangnan University, dating back to 1902, locates at Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, which is the core of Yangtze River Delta. Jiangnan University functions directly under Ministry of Education, and sees quality as her life line. Now there are 17 schools, covering fields of economics, education, laws, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, business etc., among which food science, fermentation, textile, industrial design play the leading role in nationwide, and have great influence in the world.

Jiangnan University began to accept international students from 1964, and has cultivated different kinds of students from more than 80 countries. The university specially establishes “President Scholarship”, “Taihu Scholarship”, and “Comprehensive Scholarship” for international students.

ⅡScholarship Contents and Standards

1. Full Scholarship

-a waiver of fee for registration, tuition, and laboratory experiments;

-free on-campus dormitory accommodation;

-monthly living allowance;

-Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China.

Note:

(1) Costs of the laboratory experiment or internship that beyond the university’s arrangements should be afforded by the student himself.

(2) Accommodation on campus: the university will provide a certain quota of free electricity and water, and the exceeded part should be covered by student self. Student  live in the appointed room

(3) Monthly living allowance is at the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):

— Master degree students: CNY 3,000 Yuan

— Doctoral degree students: CNY 3,500 Yuan

Scholarship students shall get their monthly living allowance from the date of registration. New students who register before 15th (15th included) of the registration month will get the full amount of the living allowance of that month, and those who register after 15th will get half amount. The graduates will be given a living allowance for another 15 days after the graduation time set by the university. The allowance will be terminated from the next month after students suspend their studies, drop school or complete schooling from the university. Monthly living allowance covers school holidays. The allowance will be suspended for one month if students do not register on time without permission from the university in advance, leave for non-health reasons or are absent from the university over a month.

Students who have to suspend their studies because of serious diseases should go back to the home country and pay for the international trip by themselves. With the university’s approval, the scholarship status can be reserved for at most one year, and their living allowances will be suspended at the same time. The scholarship will be terminated for those who suspend their studies for other reasons.

2. Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China is provided by MOE for the scholarship students in China against hospitalizing for serious diseases and accidental injuries. The institutions or the appointed medical assistance agency provide advancement service for insurance expenses, and claim for compensation with relevant payment receipts from the insurance company according to the stipulated insurance articles. 3. International travel expenses: self-afforded.

ⅢApplication Documents (in duplicate)

1. Eligibility

(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health and be friendly to China.

(2) Applicants are not studying in Chinese universities.

(3) Applicants for master degree studies must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.

(4) Applicants for Doctoral degree studies must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

3. Application Materials

Applicants should log on the online application in CGS Information System:

www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or www.campuschina.org. Please choose Program Category B and Agency Number for Jiangnan University is 10295.

After filling in the application form online, applicants must click the “submit” button and print out application form in the application system. After the on-line application is complete, applicants must submit the following documents (all documents in TWO Copies) to the us(postal address below) before March 25, 2017. The submitted documents will not be returned.

(1) Printed Application form with recent photograph

(2) Highest diploma (notarized photocopy). If applicants are university students or already employed, they shall also provide studying certificates or employment documents. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

(3) Academic transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations. 

(4) A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words).

(5) Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors.

(6) Photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy should be kept by the applicant. The form can be downloaded from

The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid.

(7) Photocopy of first page of valid passport.

(8) If have passed HSK test, please provide photocopy of HSK Certificate.

(9)If the specialty you apply is full English teaching, we give priority to applicants who are native English speaker or can provide IELTS or TOEFL scores.

(10)Applicants for fine arts must submit one CD recording of the applicants’ own work (including two sketches, two color paintings and two other works).

ⅣApproval and Notification

1. If qualification or materials do not meet requirements, the application will be esteemed invalid.

2.Jiangnan University will review the application materials and decide the nominated candidates.

3. Nominated candidates will be officially awarded Chinese Government Scholarship with the approval from CSC.

4. Each individual applicant is eligible for only one scholarship. CSC is authorized to award only one scholarship to each individual applicant nominated by more than one university.

5. CSC will send, before June 30th, Admission Letter and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) of the approved applicants to university, then we will send the documents to scholarship winners

6. Students are not permitted, in general, to apply to change their specialties, host universities or the duration of study as specified in the Admission Letter once they agree to accept the scholarship.

7. If applicants fail to register before the deadline for registration, their scholarship will not be reserved.

2). Students whose classes are taught in Chinese Language should obtain Certificate of HSK 5 level of Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) before enter degree study.
